Xasthur is a band that thrives on taking risks. From its early days of bleak and disturbing black metal up until the confrontational and dark acoustic folk blues music of today, it has always been a musical project that has been keeping people guessing.
Xasthur started in 1996 through Scott Conner’s desire to express the negativity in life to listeners. Over the span of a decade, he released 8 albums and dozens of other releases through labels like Hydra Head Records. After putting the band to rest in 2010, Scott decided to change his musical style from black metal to acoustic folk and blues music and went on to start Nocturnal Poisoning. After a few years, Scott revived the Xasthur name in May of 2015 and now has a full band that comprises of vocalist and second guitarist Christopher Hernandez and bassist Rachel. This new reinvention of the band plays in the same vein of the style that was established with Nocturnal Poisoning.
Xasthur’s music today can be described as a fingerpicked barrage of notes with varying moods and tempos. From the faster songs that paint pictures of urban desperation to the slower songs that mold into moments of solitude and depression, Xasthur is a band that keeps audiences locked into a dreary state of mind that will not let go until long after the music has stopped playing. With songs that confront drug abusers, homelessness, and the misery of city life, Xasthur’s music reminds us that the real nightmares are the ones we experience in everyday life.

Tarot Readings w/ Merissa

My name is Merissa. I am an artist, witch, & intuitive tarot reader.
A professional oracle & slave to the muse.
An existentialist by nature, I am a seeker of the intrinsic mysteries of life; a friend to the angelic dark, & a lover of all things exquisitely strange.

My journey with tarot began in 2003 in the form of a gift. 10 years later, after being blessed to have worked closely with other readers, I took skills once reserved only for close friends and extended them to the public.

I approach tarot as a tool. It is a mirror with which we can reflect on our lives; past, present, & future.
My goal is to encourage, motivate & empower.
I am honored to create a safe space to facilitate my clients’ personal growth & help them gain clarity.
Any information offered by my clients is kept in the strictest confidence.
My reading style is as nurturing & empathetic as it is no bs.

My cost for readings is $40 for one ½ hour, and $60 for one full hour.
You can make an appointment with me on Sundays from 10am-4pm.
Or just come enjoy some coffee!
We can chat it up about magick, music, anarchy, gardens- or just the weather.
Can’t wait to see you

Steel Bridge Promotions presents...

JUNIUS (Prosthetic Records/Boston)

Mesmerizing post-metal outfit JUNIUS are excited to reveal their first new music in over three years with their new full-length album "Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light" (ERAL) due out March 3, 2017 via PROSTHETIC RECORDS.

The album marks the completion of their conceptual trilogy which began in 2009 with their evoking LP "The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist", depicted by Rolling Stone as "a perfect hybrid of Neurosis and The Smiths". Releasing a one-off album "Reports from the Threshold of Death" in 2011 to commemorate their signing with Prosthetic Records, JUNIUS then returned to their conceptual project with their critically acclaimed 2014 EP "Days of the Fallen Sun", lauded by Pitchfork as their "strongest and most sensuous work to date".

Recorded, mixed and mastered with longtime friend and producer Will Benoit (Caspian, Rosetta), "Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light" takes inspiration from Elisabeth Haich's autobiography "Initiation", whilst touching on topics including karma, reincarnation and spiritual development across it's ten melodically divine tracks. Following the departure of former members Mike Repasch-Nieves (guitars), the album was written and performed entirely by vocalist/guitarist Joseph E. Martinez and drummer Dana Filloon, and also features guest appearances from Drew Speziale (Circle Takes the Square) and Gian Minardi (General Public).

The Life Changing Possibility of a Cup of Coffee

A Fulltimepgh event hosted by strawberryluna and Worker Bird
It sounds so simple: one cup of coffee with someone. And it can be that simple but the next thing you know you've built a community to share ideas with, collaborate, scheme, support, critique, and drink coffee. Trust us, we know from real and real life experience.

This is a FREE FULLTIME PGH Event. Come hang out Black Forge Coffee House - let's see what happens! Both Worker Bird and strawberryluna's professional lives have been transformed by simple perfection of a weekly peer coffee group and we want to share that experience out with Pittsburgh artists and makers. Get advice on how to make magical change in your world + peer set too!

We are excited to be hosting this event as part of Fulltimepgh: an open source festival celebrated by a series of events organized and hosted by a community of independent artists, designers, and small business owners who make their living making things...fulltime. http://www.fulltimepgh.com/
